This is part of a larger piece of Elm Burl from a downed tree in the Willamette Valley in Oregon. The wood was air-dried for 8 years. I turned this on my lathe with hand woodturning tools. After the turning, I carved the spirals at my workbench with hand tools. Next comes the fun part of sanding and sanding from 120 to 600 grit. Following the sanding comes 5 coats of hand-rubbed Walnut Oil and Carnuba Wax. As with all of my pieces, this is signed and numbered for your collection. This vase or vessel is not intended to hold fresh flowers without adding a glass inner vase.
This vessel is intended to stand on its own and will be a great addition to your Art Collection. It will catch everyone's eye, in whatever place you decide. As a display, it will fit in any home or office setting.
It is 9" tall and 5 1/2" in diameter and weighs 1 lb 8 oz.
