This is one of those fun pieces to make. It is made from Locust wood and is turned while the wood still had moisture. It is turned thin to allow the wood to move freely as it dries. After the turning was done it was sanded to 600 grit and then off to the embellishment bench it went. I first drew the figures I wanted to use on this piece. You will notice a definite Native American theme on the piece. Next I used my pyrography pens to burn the images into the wood. Next I used Metallic paint to highlight the sections of the drawings. After using heat to set the paint I proceeded to cut out sections of each drawing as needed with my piercing tools. Now we are off to the finishing booth where it received two coats of sand and sealer followed with a light sanding of 800 grit. Then came three finishing coats of lacquer. Now this piece is ready to add some culture to your home decor. This is a fun piece that many of your friends and family will love.
The vase is 8 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" in diameter and weighs 1 lb.
