I made this bowl on my lathe from Oregon Maple, with the intent to make it a large utility bowl. I wanted to make on like my Mother and Grandmother used when they made bread. (I still have that Bowl). You will notice a large red strip going through it, this is a piece of Padauk. This is there to add strength so that this bowl will take the punching down of dough. As a utility bowl it has many possible functions. You could serve salad to a large family or party. You could fill it with rolls or bread for your dinner. When not in active use it could also hold your fruit and serve as a centerpiece. It was sanded to 600 grit and has 5 coats of hand rubbed Walnut oil Carnuba wax mixture. This bowl will be a sure winner of the heirloom prize.
The bowl is 13" in diameter and 7" tall and weighs 2lbs.
