This was a fun piece to make, although it did take a while. I will try to explain the steps I took. First I turned the piece of wood and hollowed out the center on my lathe. Second I went to the carving bench and layed out the shape I wanted on the sides. Third came the carving. Some was power carving and finshing was done by hand. Fourth came the bleaching of the white portions of the wood. This took three coats of wood bleach. Fifth I did the piercing and pyrography to deliniate the sections. Sixth I ebonized the inside. Seventh I dyed the redish section. Eighth I fiished the piece with two coats of sand n sealer and three coats of acrylic lacquer.
