This is one of those Special Bowls. It is turned from local Maple in the Willamette Valley of Oregon. I turned this soon after the tree was cut (it was damaged in a storm), which is called a Green Turning. I do this sometimes to allow the natural process of drying the opportunity of moving the bowl in ways that can not be duplicated by man. The piece is turned very thin, sanded to 400 grit and finished with Walnut Oil and Carnauba Wax. Next, I pierced to rows systematically around the top and then laced leather through the holes. This gives the rim more strength. This is truly a work that many will enjoy as a centerpiece of your home or office. The bowl is not intended for everyday use other than just something to enjoy viewing.
the bowl is 12" in diameter and 10 1/4" tall and weighs 15 oz.
