This is made from a limb that was engulfed in this burl. It took a while to get this ready for the lathe. After using the chainsaw and bandsaw it was ready for the lathe but still out of round and full of holes. I truly was not sure that I would be able to turn this piece. The oak did hold together and showed its strength. After turning the outside to shape next came the hollowing, which was more difficult. After hours of hand sanding to 600 grit, it came time for the finish. It has several coats of walnut oil and carnauba wax.
This is a One of a Kind find and one that you will be proud to own. It is sure to become a favorite heirloom of your family. As an Art Piece, it is a stand-alone piece that you will be able to enjoy looking into the grain for hours.
It is 12" tall and 7" in diameter and weighs in at 4 lb 8 oz
As always this is Signed, Numbered, and Species on the bottom.
